270 Orbicushion                    Technical Specs

 The Orbicushion applies hot extruded cushion gum directly onto a buffed tire casing in one revolution and represents the new generation in precure building. The result is an extremely versatile system that's not only easy to operate, but is dedicated to your precure building needs. Hot application of the cushion results in a superior bond to the tire casing eliminating the need for spraying tire cement and ensuring a more uniform end product. No other system offers such savings in time, material and labor.

ENHANCED MODULAR CONSTRUCTION
Orbicushion employs an extruder with a 3" screw mounted on an adjustable slide. Its special contoured die head with a rotatable feature allows for rapid setting of the cushion width. Setting the width will automatically adjust the tire speed. The spin station has an expandable hub powered by a variable speed, 1 HP DC motor. Also available as optional accessories are Precure Builders complete with a tread aligning unit, cutting mechanism and stitcher assembly and cross rails to allow the machine to shuttle between two or three spin stations with precure tread builders. In addition, a rope making die head (for extruder guns) is also available. All accessories are at additional cost. Each of the basic sections is modular and can stand alone. This allows flexibility for those who require either serving multiple builders for high production shops or independent build sections for the special needs.

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

 

  • The R-23 Tread Builder was designed for the production shops. It applies the cushion gum and the tread rubber separately to the tire. This requires the operator to make two applications to the tire allowing him to find nail holes in the casing prior to applying the tread rubber.
  • The tread cutter has been designed to cut the tread to the proper length. As the tread rubber is cut, the carbide coated cutter blade texturizes the butt ends of the rubber so that it is ready to be spliced.
  • The cutter is operated with an air over air system so that the cutter operates smoothly without jerks or lunges. This system uses no oil and eliminates the possibility of contamination of the tread and the mess usually associated with air over oil systems.
  • With the optional secondary stitcher the R-23 is capable of building full cap die stock rubber.
  • The R-23 Tread Builder operates mainly on compressed air using 115 volts AC current to operate the solenoid valves and the cutter motor. Air motors are used to eliminate drift when stopped. This provides a high degree of accuracy when measuring the tread rubber length.
  • Cushioned air cylinders are used, where necessary, to protect the cylinders and component from damage when traveling to their limits with no load.
  • Most machined components are manufactured on the latest computer numerical control equipment to guarantee accuracy and repeatability in machinery.
