THIS IS A SAMPLE QUOTE FOR THE HIGHEST QUALITY AUTOMATIC MUFFLER MANUFACTURING LINE FOR HIGH PRODUCTION. THESE ARE THE FINEST MACHINES IN THE WORLD

Allstate’s manufactures equipment for muffler production, CNC tube benders, tube endformers and related tooling.  We have many resources within our organization with the technical background and experience to put a large project like yours together.  We look forward to the challenge.  Please keep in mind that with out detailed muffler, converter, tube prints or a physical muffler to review, this quote contains budgetary pricing only.  Once we have detailed prints to review we can fine tune machine and tooling prices accordingly.

The intention of this proposal is to provide enough equipment to produce a basic muffler design using the minimum amount of equipment thereby keeping the overall machine and tooling costs to a minimum.

Production capacity is 3500 units/day, based on 3 shifts-18 hours available per day at 80% efficiency. The expected production rate is 200 mufflers per hour.

The equipment and tooling proposed assume a certain construction.  Any changes to the assumptions will likely result in a change of equipment and pricing.  The equipment for the tubular manifold, catalytic converter, muffler and tube design, which is as follows:

ASSUMPTIONS:

Ø     All components of the muffler and related tube assemblies are made of low carbon mild steel.

Ø     Manifold – Tubular design – 4 tubes, all inlets mounted to one flange and all outlets are joined at a collector tube. (note: equipment for stamping flanges and welding tubes to flanges are not included)

Ø     The muffler body design

Ø     max. capacity is 7”x 12” oval and 7” dia. round. / length 36” max.

Ø     material thickness .06” max

Ø     single wrap or a double wrap (laminated) construction with a common lockseam.

Ø     end-caps will be spun (mechanically locked) to the flange of the muffler body.

Ø     spot-welds will be visible on the outside of the shell from the spotwelding of the internal baffles to the muffler body.

Ø     The internal subassembly will have two baffles with up to three louvre tubes. Note: Tubes have louvres, not perforations. The louvres will be put into the tubes from precut tube lengths and the louvre tubes will be mechanically locked to the extrusion of the baffle.   The three louvre tubes and two baffles will be assembled as a single unit called a cartridge and then inserted into the muffler body.  All endcaps will have tubes ridge-locked to the cap extrusion.  The tubes will have a maximum tube extension of 4” to the outside of the end cap.  The extension tubes from the endcaps would be inline with one of the three louvre tubes

Ø     The bent tubes that will be attached to the muffler will be low carbon mild steel and will be bent without the use of an internal mandrel.  This process is called “empty” bending which is typical of what is supplied for auto exhaust aftermarket.

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLING FOR MUFFLER PRODUCTION

1.     One standard automatic front module consisting of:

One, model “LXS-1002 shell lockseaming machine with double sheet de-stacker.  Precut sheets will be automatically picked up from a stack of sheets and presented to the lockseamer.  If the shell is laminated the sheets must be pre spot-welded.  The lockseamer will form and mechanically lock the precut sheet around a solid oval mandrel.  One mandrel is required for each different oval size.  This machine requires manual loading of a precut sheet.  The shell is automatically ejected from the tooling.

One standard model “FLO-802” shell flanging machine.  The lockseamed shell will be presented to the walking beam on this machine automatically from the lockseamer.  This machine will have a lift and carry walking beam transfer to move the part to and out of the flange tooling. The flanger will produce a flange on each end of the muffler.  The flange is required it can be mechanically locked with the end cap in the cap spinning machine.

One standard model “BAS-823” double end baffle stuffing machine.  This machine will insert a “subassembly cartridge” from each side to the correct position in the muffler body.  Each sub-assembly will require manual loading.

One set of perimeter guards with 3 access gates.

SUBASSEMBLY PRODUCTION AND TUBING PRODUCTION

Ø     Production for 200 sub assemblies (cartridges) per hour.  One cartridge will consist of two baffles with 1 to 3 tubes.  Each of the tubes will be ridge-locked to the extrusion of the baffle.

Ø     Each of the tubes will have a louvre pattern in it.  The exact number of louvres for each row and the number of rows will need to be determined.

Ø     End caps will have a tube attached to it that extends on both sides of the endcap.  The tube will be ridge-locked to the extrusion of the end cap.

Ø     Although a design for each subassembly currently does not exist.  It is assumed the final design for each subassembly will be made within the limits of each of the machines quoted.

Ø     Tubing production will consist of bent tubes that can be assembled with the inlet or outlet of a muffler

Equipment for subassembly production

4.     Three standard  LVR-100 tube louvre machine.  Typical louvre tubes have 8 rows with a preset number of louvres in each row.  This machine is designed to simultaneously pierce 4 rows of louvres in a precut tube with one cycle.  The tube will need to be manually indexed and cycle the machine a second time to produce another 4 rows of louvres.  The machine will require manual loading and unloading of the tube.

Tooling:  A sub-assembly design is not known at this time and pricing includes only one complete tooling head.  The tube diameter will have to be between 1.5” and 2” diameter. 8 spare louver blades and 8 spare dies in included in the price.

* Please note this machine cannot produce louvres on tubes less than 1.5”.  If there is a requirement for tubes less than this size, alternate means to produce it will have to be examined.

Budget Price for three machines (One machine required per louvre tube)................. $................. 210,000.00

Budget Tooling Price for three set (One required for each machine................. $................. 120,000.00

Note: Based on production of 200 systems/hour and up to three louvre tubes per muffler.  One machine is required for each louvre tube.  One louvre tooling head is required for each tube diameter and louvre pattern.

Presses and tooling

1.     Sheet uncoiling units, shear presses or blanking presses are not part of  product offering.  We can be a turn-key supplier but we would require more detailed information on the product and process before good estimates for all the equipment can be provided. However a rough estimated cost for the equipment is $500,000.00 +

2.     Blank and form dies for end caps and baffles.  Quotes cannot be obtained until a firm cap and baffle design is produced.  Estimated cost for each blank and form die is $50 000.00 each.

does not supply the presses for the blank and form dies.

3.     Pierce and Extrude dies.  Now that the Pierce and Extrude machine has been taken out of the proposal dies will have to be purchased.  Estimated price is $ 50 000.00 each. One die will be required for each baffle and end cap profile.

The same press that is used for the blank and form dies can be used for the pierce and extrude dies.

4.     It is highly recommended a spare parts package be purchased.   Our suggested package would be approximately 7-8% of the machine and tooling order.
